Nottingham Nurse Surgery Course

This course was set up by sister Gillian Godsell OBE, MSc in 2003 and I was lead clinician from 2005 to 2010. This course was primarily for nurses in dermatology (both primary and secondary care) and taught hands-on practical surgical skills including simple excisions, biopsy (punch, shave and curette) and suturing techniques. The course covered the legal aspects such as consent, liability and documentation. It was a 2 day course consisting of lectures and practical sessions. Excellent feedback was always attained and 260 nurses were trained.
