Warts

Warts are very common and are referred to as verrucae on the sole of the feet.
They are caused by a wart virus (HPV) which lies in the skin.

They are most common in children and last 6-18 months and thus treatment is not always necessary

Treatments that may be effective are

Paring down the wart and applying salicylic acid every night for 3 months has a 60-70% success rate

Cryotherapy - freezing with liquid nitrogen at every 3 week interval can result in a success rate of about 70% at 3-4 months

Curettage and cautery

Occlusion with duct tape

Imiquimod – used as an unlicenced treatment may help
